How to Set Agent and Trade Pricing on Your Offer

Overview

SolarMarket operates the Masaba WhatsApp AI agent — a sales assistant that talks with buyers via WhatsApp, qualifies their needs, and closes sales on your behalf. The agent can quote prices from your offers and, on checkout-enabled offers, guide buyers through Mobile Money payment directly in the chat.

The Agent Pricing section of the offer form lets you control how the agent prices your offer and whether it can complete a sale without a human seller involved.

Separately, SolarMarket also supports trade/B2B pricing for verified trade buyers (resellers, contractors, distributors) — a discounted price layer shown only to that buyer segment.

Agent Checkout — Can the Agent Complete a Sale?

The Agent Checkout setting controls whether the Masaba AI agent can facilitate an order on this offer. Options:

  • Inherit from Shop Settings — the offer follows whatever your shop-level agent checkout setting is. This is the default and the recommended option for most sellers.
  • Enabled (this offer) — override to force agent checkout ON for this specific offer, even if your shop default is off.
  • Disabled (this offer) — override to force agent checkout OFF for this offer, even if your shop default is on. Use this for offers that require a human conversation before purchasing (complex installations, custom configurations).
When does agent checkout actually work?
Agent checkout allows the AI to accept Mobile Money payment through WhatsApp. For this to work: (1) the offer must be approved and active, (2) agent checkout must be enabled for the offer, and (3) the buyer must have a working MTN Mobile Money number. Airtel Money is not currently supported in the chat agent flow.

Agent Commission — How Much Can the Agent Earn?

The agent commission is a pool from your offer price that you designate as the agent's earnings when it successfully closes a sale. This is distinct from the platform commission (which goes to SolarMarket). The agent commission is your cost for the AI sales service.

Use Seller Default Commission

Tick the "Use Seller Default" checkbox to apply your shop's standard agent commission rate to this offer. This is the simplest option — you set one rate at the shop level and it applies across all your offers without needing to configure each one.

Leave the checkbox unticked to configure a custom commission for this specific offer.

Agent Sale Mode

When "Use Seller Default" is unticked, the Agent Sale Mode dropdown appears:

  • Default (Agents Earn Commission) — the agent earns a commission when it closes a sale on this offer. The commission amount is taken from your Agent Commission Pool setting below.
  • No Commission on This Offer — the agent can still quote and assist with this offer, but earns no commission if a sale closes. Use this for high-margin offers where you prefer not to share any part of the sale, or for loss-leader pricing where margins are too thin.

Agent Discount Type and Value

When Agent Sale Mode is set to earn commission, these fields define the commission pool:

  • Discount TypeFixed Amount (UGX) or Percentage (%)
  • Discount Value — the flat amount or percentage that constitutes the agent's commission pool on a sale from this offer
Example — Setting agent commission
Your offer price: UGX 300,000
Agent Discount Type: Percentage
Agent Discount Value: 5%

The Live Price Preview shows:
• Agent Earns: UGX 15,000 per sale (5% × 300,000)
• You Keep on Agent Sale: UGX 285,000
• You Keep Without Agent Sale: UGX 300,000

You pay the agent 5% only when the agent directly closes the sale. Direct orders through the website or other channels do not trigger the agent commission.

The Live Agent Pricing Preview

The Live Price Preview panel at the bottom of the offer form includes an agent-specific section that updates in real time:

  • Agent Selling — shows "Enabled" or "No Commission" based on your current settings
  • Agent Discount Rule — the type and value you configured
  • Agent Commission Pool (UGX) — the actual UGX amount the agent earns on a sale at the current price
  • Agent Price Reference — the effective price the agent quotes when it factors in its commission
  • Seller Keeps Without Agent Sale — what you net on a direct sale
  • Seller Keeps On Agent Sale — what you net when the agent closes the sale

Use this panel to make sure the agent commission feels reasonable relative to your margins before submitting the offer.

Trade / B2B Pricing

SolarMarket supports a separate trade buyer segment — verified resellers, electrical contractors, and distributors who purchase for resale rather than personal use. Trade buyers see a trade price on your offer that is lower than the standard retail price.

The trade price is derived from your offer price minus the agent commission pool. This means the same agent discount value you configure for the AI agent also sets the trade discount floor for B2B buyers who access your offer directly.

To see what trade buyers see, check the Agent Price Reference line in the Live Price Preview.

Who are Trade Buyers?
Trade buyer accounts are manually verified by SolarMarket admin. They are B2B resellers who purchase in commercial quantities. If you believe a buyer account should be set up as a trade buyer, contact SolarMarket support. Regular consumer buyers and individual households do not see trade prices.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does the agent commission come out of my offer price or on top of it?

The agent commission comes out of your offer price — it is deducted from what you receive when the agent closes a sale. The buyer's price is unaffected by the agent commission setting. Think of it as a referral fee you pay the AI when it brings you a sale.

Can I disable the agent entirely from quoting my products?

Setting Agent Checkout to Disabled prevents the agent from completing a sale on this offer, but the agent can still mention and quote the product to buyers. To fully exclude an offer from the agent's awareness, contact SolarMarket support — there is no self-serve toggle for this.

My shop default agent commission is 8%. Can I set a higher rate for a specific offer?

Yes. Untick "Use Seller Default" on the offer, set Agent Sale Mode to earn commission, and enter your preferred rate in the Agent Discount Value field. Per-offer settings override the shop default for that offer only.

What happens if a buyer starts a WhatsApp conversation about my product but pays through the website instead of WhatsApp?

The agent commission only applies when the sale is completed through the WhatsApp agent flow. If the buyer clicks through to the website and pays there directly, no agent commission is charged. The platform uses attribution tracking to distinguish agent-assisted sales from direct web sales.

I have some offers where I don't want any discount at all — not even for trade buyers. How do I set that?

Set Agent Sale Mode to "No Commission on This Offer". This disables both the agent commission and the trade buyer discount derived from it, so trade buyers see the same price as regular buyers on this specific offer.
